Boone County Forest Quality Assessment:  Phase I
An Ecological Evaluation, Prioritization, and Mapping
This assessment created forest quality data for Boone County to be used as a general guide for landscape-level planning. Independent values for forest parcels in Boone County can now be determined through GIS analysis. This countywide forest quality assessment was an important first-step toward the inclusion of forest resources in the planning and decision-making process in Boone County, Kentucky.

Boone County Forest Canopy Cover:  Phase II
Public Health and Safety Function Analysis and Development of Guidelines for Environmental Protection
This study was an analysis of known natural and man-made conditions in Boone County in relation to the remaining forest canopy cover. The analysis identified high-priority issues and areas of concern and quantified the public health and safety benefits of forests within the County. The study also provides rationale for protecting environmentally sensitive forests via public education, legislation, and a variety of land use controls based on public health and safety functions.
